However, minor conflicts and misunderstandings that occur slowed down the working process because there is always a need to achieve consensus and cohesion in the performance of every task.

In some instances, some members need to inhibit their personality just so to avoid prolonging discussions that would cause delays in finishing our projects. Overall however, working in a team is helpful in fulfilling a different and enjoyable training and learning experience. It enhanced my self concept and directiveness in comparison with my teammates.

It allows one to realize that learners themselves are a wealthy source of knowledge and wisdom. It helped me experience performing a social role within a group. And it helped me manage my learning through a problem-oriented approach.

At this point, we have successfully established accord as to the roles that each member plays as well as certain unwritten norms during discussions. For instance, individual tasks are assigned and the need to let others talk while everybody listens to generate mutual respect during discussions is followed.

However, our team has not productively reached the performing stage because each member still lacks the necessary aptitude and flexibility to work together.

Among the principal factors that affect group development and performance included member composition, processes and leadership. In member composition, our individual personalities and differences as well as cultural values still get in the way.

In my case alone, I sometimes find myself stubborn and closed to new suggestions or explanations that are not my own. However, as an ESTJ simultaneously, I manage to be open to suggestions so long that they are logical and consistent with my values for the sake of order and continuity.

In terms of processes, the members often have different techniques for facilitating discussion and solving problems or making a decision. However, just so to avoid conflicts and maintain harmony in the group, the member who tends to dominate in taking over in the situation is simply followed often without further resistance and out of respect.

It must be noted however, that in case a better alternative strategy is raised in facilitating discussions, every member are still open to it. This situation can be attributed to the shared leadership within the group, which is the third major factor that retarded our group development.

Leadership is democratically shared but the dominant member, marked by having the most initiative to volunteer, becomes the informal, unassigned or unapproved-upon leader.

Incidentally, I consider this as one of the unwritten norms that group members follow. As an ENTJ, he has the natural tendency to lead and direct through his natural appeal and flair.
